PRNA Bargaining Update #4: August 11, 2025

More members came to observe bargaining yesterday than any previous session. Keep on coming! Our team loves the support!
This week, we reached tentative agreement on two articles:
- Article 10: Seniority – no changes from the current contract.
- Article 15: Leaves of Absence – We won the ability to take time off for parents, to conform to the family-school partnership act, and time off for voting.
Also, management will now notify employees on leaves of absence once they become responsible for COBRA payments to maintain their health insurance.
For holidays, we proposed that the holiday be paid from 7 p.m. on the eve of the holiday until 23:59 on the day itself—so that night shift folks will get full holiday pay.
Management did not come back with their counter on compensation.
“We need to be solid and show management that we’re one unit—not just a group of individuals. Union is not me, it’s us. When we fight together, we win. When we stand together, we win.Come out and help us get what we all want. Just the five of us on the bargaining team are not going to win. Numbers matter.”

PRNA Bargaining Update #3: July 31, 2025
Tentative Agreement Reached on Two Articles
- Article 8 – Disciplinary documents can be sealed after two years to limit access. The union must be notified prior to unsealing and provided with a rationale.
- Article 32: IHR – Cath Lab has been added to the care level chocies.
Article 13: Compensation has been submitted to management. We expect a response at the next bargaining session on Thursday, August 7.
PRNA Bargaining Update #2: July 19, 2025
Our PRNA bargaining team reached 2 tentative agreements (TAs) this week:
- Article 11 Job Posting and Filling of Vacancies: Agreement was reached to increase the ability of the registered nurse to return to their originating unit if the RN elects to do so within thirty (30) days.
- Side Letter for Article 16: The employer will continue to offer the Select Advantage EPO plan health insurance option.
Management sent a clear message to the PRNA team that finances were a concern for economic proposals. The PRNA team proposed increases to education/tuition reimbursement, an increase to the retirement matching, and a decrease to the dental and vision plan employee cost, all of which were declined by the employer.
Management also proposed the following takeaways:
- The definition of what an occurrence for sick call is, which would negatively impact the number of occurrences that would count against the employee.
- Removal of the employee’s ability to choose when and if they use their PTO.
We expect to discuss wage proposals on our next bargaining dates, July 29 and July 31. The next bargaining sessions will be held at Parkview Hospital.
The PRNA Bargaining Team needs your support! Attend Bargaining and show management we want a good contract.
PRNA Bargaining Update #1: July 3, 2025

First Day: Rapid Progress
The atmosphere was collaborative on our first day of bargaining for our new contract. So much so that we reached 18 tentative agreements on contract articles.
A tentative agreement, or TA, is a proposed agreement on contract language that has been reached between the union and employer (and signed by both parties), essentially a preliminary agreement that will form a part of the final contract.
Our TAs maintained strong protective language such as Just Culture, Health and Safety (personal protective equipment, pandemic protections, and record keeping). We also gained additional language that protects against the removal of union materials by management.
All four of our UNAC/UHCP officers stopped by to offer their much-appreciated support to the team: Charmaine Morales, RN, President; Peter Sidhu, RN, Vice President; Liz Hawkins, RN, Secretary; and Moises Alarcon, RN, Treasurer. Max Carbuccia, Collective Bargaining Director, also attended to lend his support.
We have three more bargaining dates scheduled. Two will be held at Parkview Medical Center.
TAs Reached:
Article 1 – Recognition
Article 2 – Union Membership
Article 3 – Union Representation
Article 4 – Non-Discrimination
Article 5 – Harassment
Article 7 – Grievance Procedure
Article 9 – Probation and Evaluation
Article 19 – Health and Safety
Article 20 – Job Security
Article 21 – Management Rights
Article 23 – Notices
Article 24 – Savings Clause
Article 25 – Entire Agreement
Article 27 – Fair Treatment Process
Article 28 – Minimum Rates
Article 29 – Professional Conduct
Article 30 – Bully-Free Workplace
Article 31 – Just Culture
Join Us For Bargaining
We encourage members to attend bargaining to support our team and see the process for yourselves. Member support is particularly important as we approach financial discussions. Attendance also shows management that our members are in support of the team to achieve a good contract.
Two members of our bargaining team attended numerous sessions as observers during negotiations in 2022 and bring their insights from those observations to the negotiating table this year: Detrah Abdouch, RN, Treasurer; and Candy Moguel, RN.
