UNAC/UHCP Rallies Against Prime Healthcare for Good Jobs and Fair Treatment for RNs
UNAC/UHCP members rallied Monday against the business practices of Prime Healthcare, Inc., the rich, for-profit hospital chain that owns Chino Valley Medical Center and Garden Grove Hospital. We rallied with union construction workers from IBEW Local 11 who are calling on Prime to pay wages in line with area standards on their construction projects at facilities like San Dimas Community Hospital, where the rally was held.
The rally came on the same day that an Administrative Law Judge found the management of Prime’s facility Chino Valley Medical Center guitly of “egregious widespread misconduct” against our RNs at the hospital, and ordered CVMC to cease and desist.
"We are here to let the community know that Prime is not a good citizen in the community, " UNAC/UHCP State Secretary Barbara Blake addressed dozens of UNAC/UHCP members and dozens of construction workers at the rally.
The rally was part of America Wants to Work, a series of actions by AFL-CIO unions across the country calling attention to the nation’s jobs crisis.
