Thank you from Local 770 and 62,000 grocery workers
Our friends and allies at UFCW sent this message on behalf of their members to UNAC/UHCP President Ken Deitz on September 30:
After 8 months of tough negotiations, UFCW members who work at Albertsons, Ralphs and Vons voted to approve a new collective bargaining agreement. This agreement protects our members’ health care and pension, and provides modest increases in wages.
The unwavering support of our friends and allies from the community, including clergy, labor unions, elected officials and other individuals, who joined our fight to support grocery workers, was outstanding. Hundreds of delegations and other actions organized by these individuals and groups of consumers and community members helped us secure this victory.
This is a win for grocery workers, our communities, and our local economy. But without the unity, determination and the tireless efforts of individuals like yourself, this deal would not have been possible. We want to personally thank you for your support and courage and for taking on a leadership role in our fight for good jobs and affordable health care.
Our heartfelt thanks to United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP)!
