Board of Registered Nursing is Restored

Governor Jerry Brown announced late Tuesday he signed Senate Bill 98, the legislation reconstituting the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). The entire board will be reappointed under the new bill. Read more

UNAC/UHCP Retiree Council Plans Next Steps

Members of the United Nurses Association/Union of Health Care Professionals Retirees Council Committee met in the UNAC/UHCP San Dimas office to plan for the future. Committee member Barbara Jordan, RN, said, “UNAC/UHCP does not end when you retire. It is a new beginning.” Read more

Lakewood Nurses Ratify New Agreement – Jul/Aug’10 Voice

Lakewood Registered Nurses Association (LRNA) members overwhelmingly approved a new three-year collective bargaining agreement on Thursday, June 10. The new contract, retroactive to May 6, provides for annual wage increases, an increase in night shift differential, an additional holiday, restoration of hospital’s extended sick leave program, and other improvements. Although negotiations extended beyond the existing contract’s expiration date, both the LRNA negotiating team and management worked hard to bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion,… Read more

Lakewood Kickoff – Mar/Apr’10 Voice

The Lakewood Registered Nurses Association (LRNA) held a negotiations kickoff event in late February which was well attended. Union members had the opportunity to meet with their affiliate officers, UNAC/UHCP state officers and department directors to discuss upcoming Negotiations and other issues.
