Joint Labor Management: Gerontological Nursing Certification Review Course

Description: This two-day review course is designed to help prepare the registered nurse to take the Gerontological Nursing Exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The following core areas will be covered: aging principles and theories, normal aging changes, dementia, depression, delirium, cardiopulmonary problems, health promotion, neurological diseases, pharmacologic issues, hematologic and immunologic problems, GI/GU issues, environments of care and end-of-life issues. Practice questions will also be utilized.
• To provide a course curriculum specific to the care of an aging population for Nurses working at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.
• Increase the number of Kaiser Permanente Nurses prepared to care for an aging population in Southern California, evidenced by the number of nurses attending this course.
• Increase the number of Kaiser Permanente Nurses prepared to sit for the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Gerontological Nursing Certification Exam evidenced by the number of Nurses attending this course.
