Retired UNAC/UHCP members are eligible to join the Retiree Chapter at the rate of $25 per year. The committee is currently engaged in a number of projects, from recruiting more members to the Retiree Chapter, to answering the committee phone in the San Dimas office. While the repeal efforts aimed at the Affordable Care Act are over for now, efforts to destabilize the landmark health care law are ongoing. We need to stay focused on the attacks on health care that threaten access to care.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed SB 17 into law. Senate Bill 17 requires drug makers to explain price hikes. UNAC/UHCP strongly supported the landmark drug pricing transparency bill as it made its way through the California legislative process.

UNAC/UHCP opposed the Graham-Cassidy bill because it would have resulted in a loss of health care access for tens of millions of Americans. Patients and those who care for them deserve better. We hope that leaders in the Senate can now get back to finding ways to stabilize the Affordable Care Act.
