FVPA takes a big step for union, gives management wage grid proposal. Weeks of work and extensive research went in to developing a proposal that ensures Fountain Valley will be competitive in the industry.

At the last round of scheduled negotiations on February 13 and 14, no agreements were reached. We presented our counter proposals on Article 5, Job Posting and Article 24, Work Stoppage. Despite the limited time actually spent bargaining at the table, we made good use of the two days by continuing work on the economic proposals. We reviewed existing wage practices and discussed how to develop a wage proposal that recognizes RN and professional license experience. In our next negotiations, we will be formulating our wage proposals. We ask that every unit/department send a delegation of nurses and professionals to work with us in developing these proposals.

We spent three days in bargaining at Fountain Valley this week, and despite a rocky and rough start, we accomplished a great deal. We have agreements so far on Union representation; seniority; harassment; grievance and arbitration; performance improvement and discipline; floating; and holidays. In each of these articles we have made improvements in expanding and protecting our members’ rights.
