Union in Brief – Jan/Feb’10 Voice
FVPA – Fountain Valley Professional Association contract negotiations began in mid-December, with the FVPA negotiating team exchanging a number of proposals with hospital management. Negotiations will continue throughout January, with the intent of completing before the current contract’s February 1, 2010 expiration.
UNAC/UHCP – Staff Representative Suzanne Delaney, RN, has been selected by AFSCME to attend the Harvard Trade Union Program at Harvard University early in 2010. The six-week intensive program, funded by the Jerry Wurf Memorial Scholarship, covers strategic planning, leadership and organizational change, union governance and dispute resolution.
KAISER – The Irvine Medical Center Med-Surg Telemetry team, co-led by UNAC/UHCP member Rupinder Maan, RN, is the latest to win Kaiser’s quarterly Reward and Recognition award for inpatient unit-based teams in Southern California. The award goes to the KP med-surg team with the highest overall hospital score on the H-CAHPS survey.
